Oolong Tea

Oolong tea is semi-oxidized tea, which is best described as being in between black tea (fully oxidized) and green tea (not oxidized). Oolong teas are full-bodied with a fragrant and fruity aroma. Often called weight loss teas because they help burn fat built up in the body. They are often served in Chinese restaurants.

Black Tea

Black tea is a variety of tea that is more oxidized than the oolong, green, and white varieties. All four varieties are made from leaves of Camellia sinensis. Black tea is generally stronger in flavor and contains more caffeine than the less oxidized teas. Two principal varieties of the species are used, the small-leaved variety plant (C. sinensis subsp. sinensis), also used for green and white teas, and the large-leaved Assamese plant (C. sinensis subsp. assamica), which was traditionally only used for black tea, although in recent years some green has been produced.

Lapsang souchang blend

Most say it was invented when soldiers took over a tea factory in Xingun (Star Village) during the Qing dynasty in China. When they finally left, the workers had to dry their tea in record time to sell it at the market. In desperation they lit open fires of pine to speed the process, and wood-smoked Lapsang Souchong was born.
